NRC Proposes Enhanced Security Measures for Irradiated Reactor Fuel Transport

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is proposing to update its security regulations for transporting irradiated reactor fuel, aiming to strengthen protection against theft, diversion, or sabotage. The proposed rule would apply to licensees authorized to possess or transport spent nuclear fuel, following a petition from the State of Nevada.
