FRA Issues Safety Advisory 2026-01 to Emphasize Restricted Speed Compliance

Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) is issuing a Safety Advisory to remind railroads and their employees of the importance of adhering to federal regulations and railroad operating rules governing restricted speed. The advisory highlights seven recent train accidents caused by failure to operate at restricted speed and recommends railroads to ensure employee compliance with restricted speed requirements, especially in positive train control (PTC) Restricted Mode.
