USPTO Establishes One-Year Retention Period for Trademark-Related Papers Scanned into TICRS
The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is setting a one-year deadline for storing trademark-related documents scanned into the Trademark Initial Capture Registration System (TICRS) prior to September 26, 2011, or on or after that date. After this period, the USPTO will dispose of the documents unless a request is filed to correct the electronic record, allowing for a cost-effective and efficient process for reviewing and correcting scanned documents.
