FAA Proposes New Airworthiness Directive for CFM International Engines
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has proposed a new airworthiness directive (AD) to address a safety issue with certain CFM International, S.A. (CFM) Model CFM56-5B, CFM56-5C, and CFM56-7B engines, which have experienced honeycomb separation from the surface of high-pressure turbine (HPT) inner stationary seals, prompting multiple reports and prompting the FAA to issue this proposed AD to ensure the safe operation of these aircraft engines.
