EPA Final Rule Exempts Food Packaging from Pesticide Chemical Definitions
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a final rule exempting food packaging materials treated with a pesticide regulated under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) from the definitions of 'pesticide chemical' and 'pesticide chemical residue' under the Federal Food Drug and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA). This rule aims to eliminate duplicative jurisdiction and protect human health and the environment.
