EPA Amends National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants for Electric Arc Furnace Steelmaking Facilities

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is implementing changes to the national emission standards for electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaking facilities that are considered area sources of hazardous air pollutants, finalized on December 28, 2007. The updates clarify the application of opacity limits, align particulate matter testing requirements with new source standards, and broaden the definition of a 'scrap provider' to include EAF facilities with on-site shredders.
