U.S. Department of Education Amends Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act Regulations

The U.S. Secretary of Education has amended regulations implementing the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) to align with the USA Patriot Act and the Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act, which expanded exceptions for disclosing student information without consent, and to clarify permissible disclosures in various situations.
