Maximum Line Speed Rates for Young Chicken and Turkey Establishments Operating Under the New Poultry Inspection System
The US Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is proposing changes to its regulations for young chicken and turkey establishments operating under the New Poultry Inspection System (NPIS), aiming to increase efficiency while maintaining food safety standards. The proposed amendments would allow these establishments to operate at higher line speeds, up to 175 birds per minute for chicken and 60 bpm for turkey, and remove annual worker safety program attestations.
