Nuclear Regulatory Commission Issues Final Guidance on Risk-Informed, Performance-Based Fire Protection Program for Nuclear Power Plants

The NRC is issuing a new guidance document for nuclear power plant operators to implement a risk-informed, performance-based fire protection program, replacing an existing guidance document. The new guidance is intended for licensees of existing plants that choose to adopt the program, which meets the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association's Standard 805.
