DEA Proposes Indiplon Placement in Schedule IV of Controlled Substances Act
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has proposed placing indiplon, a substance used in sleep aids, into Schedule IV of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA), following a recommendation from the Assistant Secretary for Health of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and an evaluation of relevant data by the DEA. The proposal, pending FDA approval of an indiplon New Drug Application (NDA), would impose regulatory controls and criminal sanctions on those handling indiplon and products containing it.
