DEA Proposes Rule to Exempt Certain Gamma-Butyrolactone Mixtures from Regulatory Controls
The US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is proposing a rule to automatically exempt chemical mixtures containing 70% or less gamma-butyrolactone (GBL) from regulatory controls under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA), with the goal of reducing the risk of diversion and public safety threats associated with the conversion of GBL to gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB).
