USDA Proposes to Repeal 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule

The US Department of Agriculture is proposing to rescind the 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule, which established broad prohibitions on road construction and timber harvesting in inventoried roadless areas on National Forest System lands, in order to reduce regulatory burden and return decision-making authority to individual national forests.
