FAA Proposes New Airworthiness Directive for McCauley Propeller Systems Model 4HFR34C653/L106FA Propellers

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposes a new airworthiness directive (AD) for McCauley Propeller Systems model 4HFR34C653/L106FA propellers, requiring a one-time fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI) and eddy current inspection (ECI) of the propeller hub for cracks, following reports of 3 hubs found cracked during overhaul. The proposed AD aims to prevent failure of the propeller hub, which could lead to blade separation, damage to the aircraft, and loss of control.
