US Department of Education Amends Federal Student Loan Programs to Implement Higher Education Act Changes

The US Department of Education is updating the Federal Perkins Loan, Federal Family Education Loan, and William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan programs to reflect changes to the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, resulting from the Third Higher Education Extension Act of 2006, which authorizes the discharge of certain student loan balances for survivors of 9/11 victims.
