EPA Proposes Approval of Kentucky's Clean Air Interstate Rule Revision
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing to approve a revision to Kentucky's State Implementation Plan (SIP) that meets the requirements of the Clean Air Interstate Rule (CAIR), which aims to reduce sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions in the region. The approval will also lead to the withdrawal of CAIR Federal Implementation Plans for Kentucky, as well as other states in the region, which were established to address fine particulate and ozone air quality standards.
