EPA Approves Illinois Clean Air Interstate Rule Revision

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved a revised Illinois State Implementation Plan (SIP) that meets the requirements of the Clean Air Interstate Rule (CAIR), which aims to reduce sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions that contribute to poor air quality in downwind states.
