FAA Proposes Update to Airworthiness Directive for Boeing 747 Models
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposes to update an existing airworthiness directive for certain Boeing 747 models, replacing a high-frequency eddy current inspection method with a new one, adding a one-time inspection, and terminating an adjustment factor for inspection compliance times. The update follows reports of fuselage skin cracks and concerns about faulty results from alodine-coated rivets during inspections.
