NIH Approves Experimental Transfer of Drug Resistance to Disease-Causing Microorganisms

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has approved specific proposals to conduct recombinant DNA research involving the deliberate transfer of a drug resistance trait to a microorganism that causes disease in humans, following review by the Recombinant DNA Advisory Committee (RAC) and approval by the NIH Director.
