Supplementary Agreement on Social Security Between the United States and Sweden Enters into Force on November 1, 2007
The U.S. Commissioner of Social Security announces that a supplementary agreement with Sweden will take effect on November 1, 2007, amending the existing Social Security agreement between the two countries since January 1, 1987. The agreement aims to align Sweden's benefit provisions with its new Social Security system, which includes a three-component program with an earnings-related defined-contribution benefit, individual investment accounts, and a guaranteed minimum pension.
