UN Adopts Resolution Designating December 1 as World AIDS Day

The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on December 1, 2007, designating December 1 as World AIDS Day to raise awareness about AIDS and HIV, and to promote prevention, treatment, and care for those affected by the disease. The resolution was proposed by the UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, and was adopted unanimously by the assembly.
