NMFS Proposes Issuance of Exempted Fishing Permit for Harvesting of Surfclams and Ocean Quahogs from Georges Bank Closure Area

The Assistant Regional Administrator for Sustainable Fisheries, Northeast Region, has made a preliminary determination that a proposed Exempted Fishing Permit (EFP) application by Truex Enterprises warrants further consideration, as it includes required information and aligns with the goals of the Atlantic Surfclam and Ocean Quahog regulations and Fishery Management Plan. The permit would allow one commercial fishing vessel to conduct fishing operations in a restricted area, pending further review and consultation.
