IRS Issues Regulation on Disclosure of Return Information to the Bureau of the Census

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is issuing a new regulation that would allow the Bureau of the Census to receive additional return information from taxpayers for use in its Survey of Industrial Research and Development. This proposed rule provides guidance for IRS personnel and does not affect taxpayers' tax liabilities.
