NHTSA Receives Petition for Importation of Nonconforming 2008 Harley-Davidson Motorcycles

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has accepted a petition from Harley-Davidson to allow the importation of 2008 FX, FL, XL, and VR series motorcycles that do not meet all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) due to their similarity to US-certified vehicles and their potential for modification to meet safety standards.
