FDA Announces Final Guidance on Safety Testing of Drug Metabolites

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has released a final guidance document outlining recommendations for the safety testing of drug metabolites, which are substances produced when a drug is broken down in the body. The guidance applies to small molecule nonbiologic drug products under development and finalizes a draft published in 2005.
