Use of Electronic Media for Providing Employee Benefit Notices and Making Employee Benefit Elections and Consents

The U.S. Department of Labor has released final regulations requiring retirement plan and employee benefit providers to use electronic media to deliver notices and allow participants to make elections and consents online, in line with the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (E-SIGN). These rules apply to certain retirement plans, employee benefit arrangements, and individual retirement plans, affecting their sponsors and beneficiaries.
