US Government Proposes Changes to Medicare System for Physician Identification Numbers

The US Department of the Treasury is proposing modifications to the Unique Physician/Practitioner Identification Number (UPIN) system, which is used for Medicare program participation, in accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974.
