US Department of Education Amends Federal Student Loan Programs to Implement Higher Education Act Changes

The US Department of Education is amending the Federal Perkins Loan, Federal Family Education Loan, and William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan programs to implement changes resulting from the Third Higher Education Extension Act of 2006, which authorizes the discharge of certain outstanding loan balances for survivors of 9/11 terrorist attacks and other eligible victims.
