Nuclear Regulatory Commission Amends Regulations to Include New Radioactive Materials
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has updated its rules to cover certain radium sources, accelerator-produced radioactive materials, and naturally occurring radioactive materials, as mandated by the Energy Policy Act of 2005, signed into law on August 8, 2005. The changes aim to establish a regulatory framework for these newly added materials, building on the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 definition of byproduct material.
