US Coast Guard Adopts New Speed Limit Rule in Tongass Narrows, Alaska

The US Coast Guard has finalized a rule that extends the speed limit in Tongass Narrows to Channel Island, allows floatplanes to take off and land, and eases congestion for smaller vessels, while also re-designating a safety zone in Ketchikan Harbor as an anchorage ground, where vessels must proceed by the most direct route without delay or sudden course change.
