MMS Delays Rule on Outer Continental Shelf Plans Due to Hurricane Katrina Damage
The Minerals Management Service (MMS) is pushing back the effective date of a rule requiring oil and gas lessees and operators to submit plans and information on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) until January 1, 2006, due to damage caused by Hurricane Katrina in the New Orleans area and subsequent flooding, providing temporary relief to the government and the oil and gas industry as they recover from the disaster.
