HUD Waives Regulations for Public and Indian Housing Programs in Hurricane Katrina Disaster Areas
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has granted regulatory and administrative waivers to facilitate the delivery of safe and decent housing to families and individuals displaced by Hurricane Katrina in affected areas. Entities administering Public and Indian Housing (PIH) programs can defer compliance with regulations for up to 12 months, while those outside disaster areas can request expedited waiver review.
