EPA Proposes Rule Exempting Certain Air Releases of NOX from Notification Requirements

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking public comment on a proposed rulemaking that would exempt certain air releases of nitrogen oxide and nitrogen dioxide from notification requirements under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980. The proposed exemption would apply to releases of less than 1,000 pounds of NOX in 24 hours resulting from combustion activities, unless they are the result of an accident or malfunction.
