Medicare Program; Hospice Care Amendments

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released a final rule revising existing regulations for Medicare hospice care, aligning with statutory changes from the Balanced Budget Act of 1997, the Medicare, Medicaid, and SCHIP Balanced Budget Refinement Act of 1999, and the Medicare, Medicaid, and SCHIP Benefits Improvement and Protection Act of 2000. The rule updates documentation requirements, expands benefit periods, and clarifies discharge procedures.
