NMFS Decides Not to Implement Proposed Closure for Atlantic Sharks Off Mid-Atlantic Region

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has decided not to initiate a rulemaking to amend the current time/area closure for Atlantic sharks off the Mid-Atlantic region, following a request from the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Division of Marine Fisheries. NMFS will consider new information on the impacts of the current closure and upcoming shark stock assessments before determining whether changes to the time/area closure are necessary.
