NRC Staff Releases Model License Amendment Request and Safety Evaluation for Revised Containment Spray and Cooling Systems Standard Technical Specification

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has prepared a model license amendment request, safety evaluation, and no significant hazards consideration determination related to changes to the completion times in Standard Technical Specification 3.6.6A, 'Containment Spray and Cooling Systems,' for Combustion Engineering Pressurized Water Reactors. The proposed changes would extend the completion time for one containment spray system train from 72 hours to seven days and add a condition for when one containment spray system and one containment cooling system train are inoperable.
