Nuclear Regulatory Commission Denies Petitions for Rulemaking by Westchester County Executive and Brick Township Mayor

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has denied two petitions for rulemaking submitted by Andrew J. Spano, County Executive of Westchester County, New York, and Mayor Joseph C. Scarpelli of Brick Township, New Jersey, which sought to amend the agency's regulations to ensure that license renewals are based on a plant's compliance with all applicable criteria and requirements, as if it were a new construction project.
