Petition for Exemption From the Federal Motor Vehicle Motor Theft Prevention Standard; General Motors Corporation

General Motors Corporation has been granted an exemption from the Federal Motor Vehicle Theft Prevention Standard for the Saturn Aura vehicle line starting from model year 2008. The exemption allows the company to install an antitheft device as standard equipment, which the agency believes will be as effective in reducing and deterring motor vehicle theft as the parts-marking requirements.
