FAA Proposes Update to Rolls-Royce RB211 Series Airworthiness Directive

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposes to update an existing airworthiness directive (AD) for Rolls-Royce plc RB211 Series Turbofan Engines, requiring the removal of certain high-pressure compressor stage 3 disc assemblies installed on engines with specific part numbers, to prevent corrosion-induced uncontained disc failure and resulting damage to the airplane. The proposed AD would shorten the compliance time for affected disks that entered service before 1990.
