FAA Adopts New Airworthiness Directive for Aerospatiale Model ATR42 and ATR72 Airplanes
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Aerospatiale Model ATR42 and ATR72 airplanes, requiring a one-time inspection to verify the fuel quality indicator (FQI) part number or markings and replacing any FQI with an incorrect part number. The directive was prompted by a report of an incorrect FQI installation on an ATR72 airplane, which could lead to engine shutdown during flight due to fuel starvation.
