OSHA Proposes Revised Bitrex Qualitative Fit-Testing Protocol for Respiratory Protection Standard

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is seeking public comment on a revised protocol for the abbreviated Bitrex qualitative fit test (ABQLFT), which would apply to general industry, shipyard employment, and construction industry employers. The proposed protocol, consisting of seven 15-second exercises, has been shown to have test sensitivity, predictive value, and specificity, and OSHA requests public feedback on whether it should be included in the Respiratory Protection Standard.
