FDA Releases Guidance on Food Record Keeping Requirements

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has published a guidance document addressing questions and answers regarding the establishment and maintenance of records for food manufacturers and distributors in the United States, in compliance with the Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002 (Bioterrorism Act). The guidance clarifies the record-keeping requirements for companies with varying employee sizes, with deadlines set for December 9, 2005, June 9, 2006, and December 11, 2006, respectively.
