EPA Withdraws Environmental Impact Statement Plan for CAFO Permits in Oklahoma and New Mexico

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has withdrawn its plan to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the reissuance of two National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) General Permits, OKG010000 and NMG010000, which cover Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs) in Oklahoma and New Mexico, as well as Indian lands in these states. The EPA has cancelled scoping meetings previously scheduled for June 22, 2004, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and June 24, 2004, in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
