MMS Prepares Environmental Assessment for Upcoming Oil and Gas Lease Sale 194 in Gulf of Mexico

The Minerals Management Service (MMS) is preparing an environmental assessment for Lease Sale 194, scheduled for March 2005, in the Central Planning Area of the Gulf of Mexico. The assessment will reevaluate the potential environmental impacts of offering all available unleased acreage in the area, following alternatives that include excluding blocks near sensitive features or canceling the lease sale.
