Requested Administrative Waiver of the Coastwise Trade Laws

The Maritime Administration (MARAD) has received a request for a waiver of the U.S.-build requirement of the coastwise laws, allowing a vessel to be built outside the U.S. The waiver application is available at http://dms.dot.gov/dot/docket/2004-18955, and interested parties can comment on the potential impact on U.S. vessel builders or businesses using U.S.-flag vessels.
