Extension of Comment Period for Proposed Rule on High-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal at Yucca Mountain

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has extended the public comment period for a proposed rule on high-level radioactive waste disposal at Yucca Mountain, Nevada, from November 7, 2005, to November 21, 2005, following a 30-day extension from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The extension was requested by U.S. Senators Harry Reid and John Ensign, as well as several citizen and environmental groups, to allow for more time to review the proposed rule.
