US Department of the Interior Revokes Public Lands in Alaska for Military Purposes

The US Department of the Interior has issued Public Land Order No. 7609, which partially revokes Public Land Order No. 1949, affecting approximately 74,248 acres of public lands in Adak, Alaska, previously withdrawn for military purposes. The decision follows the identification of excess lands needed by the Department of Defense, as mandated by the 1990 Defense Base Closure and Realignment Act.
