FAA Proposes Airworthiness Directive for Rolls-Royce Turboprop and Turboshaft Engines

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is proposing a new airworthiness directive (AD) for Rolls-Royce Corporation's 250-B17B, -B17C, -B17D, -B17E, -C20, -C20B, -C20F, -C20J, -C20S, and -C20W engines, which would require the installation of a turbine energy absorbing ring to address a high rate of uncontained turbine wheel failures, potentially leading to loss of control and aircraft damage.
