DOE to Accelerate FY 2005 Reimbursements for Uranium and Thorium Processing Sites

The Department of Energy (DOE) will accelerate reimbursements for remedial action costs at active uranium and thorium processing sites, exceeding the FY 2005 appropriation of $80 million, due to a backlog of unpaid approved claims totaling approximately $56 million, and will pay approved claims from FY 2004 by April 30, 2005, subject to available funds.
