US Waives Certification Requirement for Afghan Poppy Eradication Efforts
The US government has made a determination to waive a certification requirement related to the cooperation of the Afghan government with US-funded poppy eradication and interdiction efforts in Afghanistan, following a review of the situation on the ground. This waiver will allow the US to continue providing financial and technical assistance to the Afghan government's efforts to combat opium poppy cultivation and trafficking.
