NMFS to Issue Exempted Fishing Permits for Maine Lobster Vessels

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has announced that it will issue exempted fishing permits (EFPs) for up to 100 commercial lobster vessels in Maine, after reviewing an application submitted by the Maine Department of Marine Resources. The permits would allow lobster fishing vessels to conduct fishing activities that are consistent with the goals and objectives of the American lobster fishery, as outlined in the Atlantic Coastal Fisheries Cooperative Management Act.
